Condition : Very good condition with original box, with soldier's description sheet, base and display stand. Plastic doll with articulated arms at the shoulders, not at the elbow, articulated legs at the hips and knees, soft pivoting head with implanted hair, felt and plastic outfit, the sabre does not remove from the scabbard (one piece moulded) - See pictures for more details.
The first company of each line infantry battalion was the grenadier company.
It held the right of the battalion and was made up of selected men who wore the distinctions of elite soldiers, moustaches, a red plume, red epaulettes with fringes, a lighter sabre with a red lanyard and grenades on the ruffles of the habit and on the gibernets.
Their predictive headdress was the furry bonnet, but not all companies of granadiers had one, as it was often given as a reward by the Emperor.
The creation of the granadiers dates back to the 17th century and it was in 1670 that a company was formed in thirty regiments. Later there was one company per battalion, and finally all the regiments had one. This composition was maintained for almost two centuries.
In addition to their rifle and sabre, the first grenadiers carried a satchel containing grenades.
