Castle Grayskull - Gigantic Masters of the Universe Store display - Mattel

This gigantic store display was produced by Mattel in Europe for the best retailers, big store chains such as Galaries Lafayette in France and Inno in Belgium, to help promote the line to kids for the 1984 Christmas season. Kid were allowed to enter the MOTU toy aisle by going through the Castle Grayskull entrance, like He-Man! How cool was that for a kiddie back in the days?

Most of the displays produced back them were most likely destroyed, stores couldn't afford to keep this monster once they did not need it anymore. Nowadays, there are only three displays still known to exist, two of them being in private collections. This is the third one.

 

This display is made of two vacuformed plastic part (top and bottom of the castle) that were molded in black plastic and then painted in various shades of green. Put one part on top of the other, and voilà!

Here you have a Grayskull that is totally in scale with the action figures. Just look at our pics, and check the little Sorceress at the window!
